About the Event:

Wurl makes the seemingly impossible surprisingly easy for producers, distributors, and advertisers. At the same time, they are completely invisible to the end user.
Think of Wurl like the interstate highway system for streaming video. Just as cars and trucks move fluidly around the nation at different speeds with different on-ramps and exits, programming moves from producers including NBC, BBC, Fox, TBS, AMC, Bloomberg, and more via Wurl to platforms like Roku, Sling, FireTV, Apple TV, Samsung, LG, Visio where more than 2 billion streaming viewers get their content. The content fuels up with ads along the way from services like Google, Amazon, AdPool, SpringServe and others. Wurl collects fees for every program that moves across the network as well as for each ad that gets inserted into a program.
Wurl is completely addressable and trackable. It allows producers and advertisers to know exactly where their programs and ads are going, right down to the device. They know exactly who’s viewing, when they’re viewing, how long they’re viewing, and if they’re watching the ads. This gives advertisers the precision targeting they’ve been hoping for since the invention of the internet, along with complete transparency.
Until Wurl came along, each producer had to figure this out for themselves, which is a major issue since the platforms all require different digital formats. With the constant expansion of platforms and producers, it’s impossible for both sides to keep up. Wurl is the transformer that automatically adapts the content for each platform, and even serves as an intermediary helping producers connect with networks and vice versa.
Launched in 2018, Wurl currently has 50 employees in Palo Alto, Santa Monica, and London. The service is currently delivers 300 channels to nine countries in North America and Europe. By the end fo 2020 Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Russia, India, and Japan will be brought online. Revenue in 2019 was $5.5M, 2020 is forecast to be $14M. With more networks, producers, and geographic expansion revenue is expected to hit $306M by 2024.
According to, Global streaming video revenue is projected to grow by nearly $150B by 2024 and Wurl is perfectly positioned to capture a percentage of it with the state of the backbone they’ve created for producers and platforms around the world.
